Swampscott Students Honored At Clark, Emerson, Holy Cross, WPI

These Swampscott students were among those recently earning academic or athletic distinction.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — These Swampscott students were among those recently earning academic or athletic distinction at colleges and universities across the nation.

Megan J. Marocco received a degree from Clark University during the University's 117th Commencement exercises on June 12, and June 13. Marocco graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching .

The University awarded 490 bachelor's degrees, 501 master's degrees, and 10 doctorates, and conferred three honorary degrees during the two ceremonies. Graduates were urged to ask the hard questions, drive change, and even occasionally stir some trouble.

Emerson College awarded more than 950 undergraduate degrees and more than 470 graduate degrees for the Class of 2021 on May 2 at Fenway Park during its 141st commencement exercises, and virtually on May 9. The College also honored the Class of 2020 graduates in an additional ceremony at Fenway Park on May 2.

Tyler McHugh received a BA in Media Arts Production.

Emily Travascio earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Curry College commencement exercises on May 23.

Livia Alperin earned Dean's List honors at The University of Tampa for the Spring 2021 semester. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.75 or higher to be eligible for the dean's list.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute announced that Ethan Davis, a member of the class of 22 majoring in Aerospace Engineering, was named to the university's Dean's List for academic excellence for the spring 2021 semester.

A total of 2,148 undergraduate students achieved the criteria required for WPI's spring 2021 Dean's List. The criteria for the WPI Dean's List differs from that of most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade-point average. Instead, WPI defines the Dean's List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.

Assumption University said Giana Faia, class of 2021, was named to the university's Dean's List for the spring 2021 semester. Students named to the Dean's List must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 for a five-class, 15-credit semester to be included on the prestigious list, which is announced at the completion of the fall and spring semesters.

"Giana is one of the many students who demonstrated incredible resiliency amid the challenges posed by COVID-19 during the previous academic year and remained committed to their programs of study," said Assumption University President Francesco C. Cesareo, Ph.D.

Ashley Leblanc was named to the Plymouth State University President's List for the Spring 2021 semester. To be named to the President's List, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.7 or better for the Spring 2021 semester and must have attempted at least 12 credit hours during the semester. Leblanc is an English major at Plymouth State.

Lucy Naughton was named to the Dean's List at Hamilton College for the spring 2021 semester.

To be named to the Dean's List, a student must have carried throughout the semester a course load of four or more graded credits with an average of 3.5 or above.

Naughton, a rising sophomore, is a graduate of Swampscott High School.

Christopher Legere was named to the College of the Holy Cross spring 2021 Dean's List. A member of the class of 2022, Legere is majoring in Psychology.

Legere was among more than 1,451 students named to the Dean's List for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2020-21 academic year.

To qualify, students must pass four or more letter-graded courses with no failing grades during the semester and earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Coastal Carolina University recognized nearly 1,200 students during its in-person spring 2021 commencement ceremonies, held May 7, and May 8, in Brooks Stadium. Among the Swampscott graduates were Andrew Dove and Olivia Kiely.
