Swampscott Teens Suffer 'Serious Adverse Effect' From THC Products

Swampscott police said there were two incidents of high school-aged residents being sent to the hospital after ingesting THC this week.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Two Swampscott teens suffered "a serious adverse effect" after ingesting a TCH product this week, according to a police warning to parents to talk with their children about taking any product without knowing what's in it.

Police said the two incidents both occurred since Monday and involved high school-age residents ingesting the THC product and then having a reaction that required medical care. Fire and ambulance personnel treated both teens and they then went to a local hospital.

"The Police Department and the School Department are taking these incidents seriously," Swampcott police said. "We encourage all parents and caretakers to check in with their children and have a conversation about the dangers of taking anything that is not prescribed or from an unknown origin."
