Swampscott/Marblehead Sr Legion Rolls Towards District 8 Playoffs

The Swampscott/Marblehead American Legion baseball team is in third place — the top four teams make the playoffs — and is 10-5 overall, with seven games left after winning four game and losing one over the past week. 

Swamp/Head  beat Lynn 3-2, Saugus 9-0, beat Gloucester on a forfeit, lost a tough one to Middleton 10-6 and beat Lawrence 9-3 last night in Swampscott.  Swampscott has received outstanding pitching all season from workhorses Sean O'Brien and Bradon Engstrom. 

Swamp/head has also gotten some strong innings from pitchers Jake Cassidy, Jordan Chmura, Andrew Raisner and Chris Murphy. The catchers Brian Burke Corey Carmody and Colton Dana have shown total leadership calling the pitches during the games for the Swamp/Head team.

The outfield play of Kyle Waters, Mike Lan, Jake Cassidy and led by centerfielder Casey Stead has been outstanding all season. In the infield there has been no shortstop better in the league then Connor Green who has had an array of highlight plays, throw in some very solid play by second baseman Trey Blackmer. Our two big men at the corners Brian Burke at third base and Engstrom at first have been absolutely lights out so far. Offensively Swamp/Head has had a whole host of guys who have just pounded out the hits night after night. 

Swampscott hopes to continue its winning ways tomorrow night at home vs Saugus 5:30 game time.
