Swampscott's Big Blue Bargains Moves Into Bigger Space, Expands Hours
The thrift store that donates proceeds back to the community is moving to the main building of the former Clarke School.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The Swampscott community consignment and thrift shop Big Blue Bargains is on the move once again.
Only this time, it is a short trip with the transition from the former Clarke School extension to the main building, allowing for expanded space and hours for the nonprofit store that donates proceeds back to Swampscott schools and other civic organizations.
In 2025, Big Blue Bargains contributed more than $25,700 back to the Swampscott community through grants, donations, and local support initiatives.

Starting Feb. 16, the expanded hours at the new location will be Mondays and Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
"We are incredibly grateful to the town of Swampscott and the Swampscott School Committee for this opportunity," said Laura Lynn, Board Member of Big Blue Bargains. "Having an expanded space inside Clarke School allows us to grow our mission, better serve our customers and donors, and continue giving back to the community we love. And, being under the same roof as Swampscott Recreation opens the door to exciting collaborations and deeper community engagement."
Lynn said Big Blue Bargains and the Swampscott Recreation Department are working on joint initiatives, events, and programming to "further connect residents, support local families and strengthen community resources with the shared goal of making the former Clarke School a vibrant, multi-use community center."
