Swastika Spray-Painted On Swampscott Sidewalk: Police

Police are looking for neighborhood home security footage from Friday afternoon to help identify who was responsible for the vandalism.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott police were asking residents in the area of Redington Street and Forest Avenue for home security footage that might help identify those responsible for a swastika that was spray-painted on a sidewalk in the neighborhood Friday afternoon.

Police said they believe the vandalism was spray-painted sometime between 2 and 6 p.m. on Friday.

Police said a vehicle in the area had a line painted on it in white paint along with the swastika in white paint on the sidewalk.

Additional evidence that could identify those responsible for the vandalism was recovered from the area, according to police, but was not publicly revealed.

Det. Ted Delano, who is the SPD's Civil Rights Officer, reached out to religious organizations in the town to inform them of the incident on Friday.
