BOSTON, May 27, 2014— Introducing The Zombie Run: Extreme and The Zombie Run: Black Ops; more zombies, improved obstacles, smoke, mud, fire, night running (Black Ops) and 3.1 miles of insane terrain. The CDC predicts the infection will spread to Boston on Sat., Oct. 18 as part of a nationwide zombie apocalypse. Boston will host The Zombie Run: Extreme and The Zombie Run: Black Ops at Amesbury Sports park with registration spots open and on sale NOW!

With the zombie craze exploding in popularity, The Zombie Run brings to life all the exciting elements of the TV horror drama, The Walking Dead.

“There’s a zombie culture that’s alive, no pun intended, and enthusiastic just like there’s a competitive, obstacle-racing culture thriving,” said Chloe Swenson, The Zombie Run race director.  “We couldn’t help but feed off that and combine the two to produce an obstacle-based zombie run.”

The Zombie Run, including Extreme and Black Ops, are the only nationally touring zombie events that take over city streets and parks focusing on a fully scripted, suspense-filled back story… that now adds in obstacles.

The news has spread. The Zombie Run: Extreme is being featured on NBC’s Emmy winning lifestyle show, 1st Look. The Zombie Run team has made live TV appearances on FOX Good Day (Philadelphia), ABC Good Morning New Orleans, Colorado and Company (NBC Denver) and others.

Professional, on-site make-up artists transform normal, warm-blooded humans into brain-craving zombies. But the event doesn’t end after participants cross the finish line. The after party allows zombies and runners to unite and celebrate the apocalypse.

Participants will be running to save their lives, while also running for the lives of kids battling brain injuries and disorders at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, The Zombie Run's national charity partner. Participants have the opportunity to make additional donations through the purchase of an extra life flag, the 'I Love Zombies' shirt, or other monetary donations with all proceeds being directly donated to the Kennedy Krieger Institute.

The Zombie Run: Extreme and Black Ops are the newest editions on the roster for the event production company, Human Movement Management™ (HMM) (www.humanmovement.me). The award-winning company has been producing the world’s largest running races, beer festivals, triathlons, mud runs and outdoor events throughout North America. Other national HMM event series include Dirty Girl Mud Run™, The Ugly Sweater Run™ and The Color Run™.

“These events are spreading like wildfire and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Swenson. “We are all in awe by the insane support behind our ventures and it fuels our goal to make these events an all around runner experience… and of course to make people’s weekends pretty awesome.”

With more than 150 experienced event professionals producing more than 300 events across the nation annually, HMM kicks off the 2014 Zombie Run events in March with events taking place throughout the summer and into November.

The Zombie Run, The Zombie Run: Extreme and The Zombie Run: Black Ops are visiting more than 20 cities on the 2014 tour. Find your city and register at http://www.thezombierun.com
