Town Of Swampscott Seeks New Member For Board Of Health
The Board of Health meets regularly monthly, though may meet more frequently as needed.

The Town of Swampscott seeks residents to apply to fill one vacancy on the 3-member Board of Health. As this position was vacated mid-term, the new member is to be appointed jointly by the Select Board and remaining Board of Health members, and will serve until the April 2022 Town-wide election when the existing term expires and a member will be officially elected by the town.

The Board of Health is required by state statutes and regulations to perform duties relative to the protection of public health, sanitary living conditions, disease control, food permit issuance, beach testing, solid waste, environmental protection, among other duties as specified by the state. The Swampscott Board of Health in particular emphasizes a commitment to ensure social and racial equity in envisioning initiatives, enforcing policies, and setting regulations. The Board of Health meets regularly monthly, though may meet more frequently as needed.
Swampscott currently seeks candidates with interest and knowledge covering one or more of the above topics, and emphasizes the need for a member with a particular interest in environmental protection. Emily Cilley, RN, NCSN; and Marianne Hartmann, RN, MPH – both Swampscott Public School nurses – currently serve on the board.

Applicants must be a Swampscott resident – new residents are welcome. The Town of Swampscott values the importance of varied perspectives on the Town boards and committees.
