Veterans Mental Health A Focus Of Swampscott/Lynn DAV Delegation

E.F. Commander Jeffrey Blonder said the chapter gave U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton a list of "critical goals" during a Washington D.C. trip.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Officials from the Swampscott/Lynn Disabled Veterans of America recently traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton and attend the annual Mid-Winter Conference.

E.F. Gilmore Commander Jeffrey Blonder said Moulton praised the chapter for its focus on veterans' mental health on the North Shore and that they presented Moulton with a list of priorities for 2024 and beyond.

More than 1,000 DAV members attended the conference.

These goals presented to Congressman Moulton were:

1. Correct inequities for veterans receiving compensation benefits and provide parity in benefits for survivors.

2. Ensure the faithful implementation of the PACT Act and address gaps in toxic exposure benefits.

3. Establish equity in VA care, services and benefits for women, LGBTQ+ and minority veterans

4. Provide a full spectrum of long-term care options for service-disabled and aging veterans

5. Bolster mental health resources to ensure the reduction of veteran suicides

6. Expand the VA's capacity to deliver timely, high-quality care to veterans

At the conclusion of the meeting Department of Massachusetts 1st Jr. Commander, Andrea Gayle Bennett presented a DAV Challenge Coin to Representative Moulton in appreciation of all he has done for the veterans of Essex County.
