Voters Unseat Incumbent Selectman, Planning Board Member

The unofficial results are in for Swampscott's 2015 town election.

Voters decided it was time for a change on the Swampscott Board of Selectmen and Planning Board as challengers in both races captured seats from the incumbent candidates.

Peter Spellios topped incumbent selectman Glenn Kessler 1,407 to 987, ending Kessler’s time on the board. Jeffrey Blonder, the incumbent candidate running for the Planning Board, lost his seat 906 to 1,122 to challenger William Quinn.

In the other contested town-wide race, Marianne Speranza-Hartmann captured the open seat on the Board of Health, topping Sarah Pruett by a vote of 1,338 to 672.

Twenty-five percent of voters, 9,876 individuals, headed to the polls Tuesday to vote in the three contested town-wide elections and a number of precinct-specific contested races for town meeting members.
