2020 Dog Licenses Now Available In Tewksbury

All dogs over 6 months must be licensed annually. Renewals are due by March 15.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Dog license renewals are available now in Tewksbury, ahead of the new year, the town announced . Licenses must be renewed annually and officially expire at the year's end, although they can be submitted until March 15 without late fees. All dogs six months and older must be licensed.

Until March 15, license fees are $15 for spayed/neutered dogs and $20 for other dogs. The fee increases $5 on March 16 and then $10 more on July 1.

Dogs can be licensed online, at the town clerk's office or by mail. Online licensing is available here. More information on licensing in person or by mail is available on the town website.

Other bylaws pertaining to dog owners include:

  • "(MGL CH.140 SEC.137 AND TOWN BYLAWS CH. 6.04 DOGS): A dog six months old or older shall be licensed yearly.
  • The license is valid for one (1) year, January 1 to December 31, and must be renewed annually.
  • Certificate of current rabies vaccination required (unless currently on file).
  • Certificate of spaying or neutering required (unless currently on file).
  • LEASH LAW: No owner or keeper of any dog shall permit such dog to be at large at any time.
  • There is a fine for impoundment of dogs picked up “at large”.
  • Copies of the Dog Bylaws are available on the Town’s Website or at the Town Clerk’s Office."
