5 Dates You Need to Know on the Tewksbury Public Schools Calendar

TEWKSBURY, MA — The 2016-2017 school year is almost here, and while students may be dreading it, the time has come to make preparations for the upcoming school year.

Students are due back in Tewksbury schools on Weds., Aug. 31 across all grades. The return is immediately followed by another break, with no school Fri., Sept. 2 or Mon., Sept. 5 (Labor Day).

Open houses for preschool-grade 2 will be held on Sept. 20. Grades 3-4 open houses will be held Sept. 13. Ryan School open houses will be held on Sept. 14 for Grade 5 and Sept. 15 for Grade 6. Middle school open houses will be held on Sept. 8 for Grade 7 and Sept. 22 for Grade 8. High school open houses will be held on Oct. 6.

Here are five other important dates on the Tewksbury public schools calendar that you should be aware of during the first few months of the year.

1. Aug. 25: High school parking permits are issued
2. Sept. 8: Parental Advisory Committee Library volunteer training beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Dewing Elementary
3. Sept. 10: First varsity home football game against Malden Catholic, 1:30 p.m. at Doucette Stadium
4. Oct. 6: Systemwide half day for students.
5. Nov. 18: Tewksbury Education Foundation Fifth Annual Silent and Live Auction
