Actress Jessa Piaia will perform her one-woman show, "A Visit with Rachel Revere, Wife of America's Most Notable Patriot Paul Revere." Paul Revere married Rachel Walker within five months of the passing of his first wife, Sarah, who died following the birth of their sixth child; Rachel took on the care of the children, and with Paul had six more of their own. Clad in period attire, Jessa portrays this early 19th century woman of “forthright hospitality and remarkable good humour,” as she relates episodes of their life during and after the American Revolution. Rachel recounts the exciting tale of life in Boston’s North End when America was still a British Crown Colony. Hear about the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party which her husband and stepson participated in, and the stirring events that led to Paul’s famous Midnight Ride in April 1775. Performance to take place on the library's back lawn. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets or chairs. In case of inclement weather, concert will take place in the library’s first-floor Fairgrieve Wing. Look for the overflow parking signs if the main parking lot fills up. Register HERE.
