Police learned that a man staying in a Main Street motel had an outstanding warrant from Lawrence District Court.

Police requested assistance from the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT team in serving the arrest warrant due to Candelario's criminal history.

He was arrested at the motel at about 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers found about 49 grams of suspected cocaine on him at the time of his arrest.

Two women were also inside the motel room. An investigation indicated that Candelario had held them against their will, police said.

During the arrest, he threatened the women to try to prevent them from speaking with investigators.

Candelario is scheduled to be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Thursday.
