Board of Health To Hold Flu Shot Clinic at Senior Center, Nov. 14

The holiday season is filled with activities at the Senior Center.

The Senior Center will be closed this coming Monday, November 12th, in recognition of Veteran's Day. A hearty “THANK YOU” is extended to all our Veterans for their sacrifices and for their heroic part in securing our FREEDOM.

Due to the Veteran's holiday, tickets for the Foxwood day trip of Wednesday, December 5th will be available for purchase next Tuesday, November 13th at 8:15 AM. The cost of this trip is $21.

The Board of Health will hold its “Flu and Pneumonia Vaccine Clinic” for Seniors next Wednesday, November 14th from 9:00 to 11:00 AM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Senior Center, 175 Chandler Street. Participants are reminded to bring along their Medicare card.

In the afternoon on Wednesday, November 14th, the Town Manager will hold his Annual Neighborhood Meeting for all residents at the Tewksbury Senior Center at 3:00 PM. If one cannot make the 14th meeting the Town Manager will hold a second Neighborhood Meeting on Tuesday, November 20th at the Tewksbury Library at 7:00 PM. Residents are encouraged to attend one or both of these meetings.

Elks Thanksgiving ticket are still available to Tewksbury Senior Citizens. The event is being held on Thursday, November 15th. Tickets are free and bus transportation will be provided by the COA to those who are in need of a ride. Those utilizing the bus are asked to indicate this fact when picking up a ticket.

The Methuen Annual “Festival of Trees” will be here before we know it. On Saturday and Sunday, November 17th and 18th the Festival admission is free for Senior Citizens and Red Hatters. The event will take place from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM both days and is located at 13 Branch Street, Methuen 01844. This year the Senior Center gift shop and consignment shop will have a tree on display. This is a great take that you won't want to miss.

DJ Jon Mansfield will be at the Senior Center for his monthly afternoon dance on Monday, November 26th. October tickets (October event was canceled due to the storm) will be valid for this November dance. Those who cannot make the November dance will be refunded.

Due to several requests for a Country Western Dance, a dance has been scheduled for Friday, November 30th with the John Penny Band performing for the evening. Tickets are now available at $10 per person.

The next Sunday Breakfast Benefit and Mini Fair will be held on Sunday, December 2nd from 7:30 to 11:00 AM. A note of thanks is extended to all those who worked the event this past Sunday; and, we thank our patrons as well. Evelyn Fraser was the winner of the drawing.

Tickets are now available for the COA and Friends Christmas Dinner of Friday, December 7th. The ticket cost is $15 and includes a family style dinner and dancing to the sounds of the Perfect Match Band.

Then on Sunday, December 9th, the Edwards Twins will be back in Tewksbury at the Senior Center to perform their Christmas Show. A matinee will be held at 1:00 PM and an evening show at 6:00 PM. Tickets are $30 per person and going fast. These shows are open to the general public and will be most entertaining. The Edwards Twins impersonate celebrities and are very good at doing so. It's a great show.

The Red Hat Carnation Belles will hold their Christmas Dinner on Thursday, December 13th. Tickets are now available at $25 per Belle. The event includes a plated dinner and entertainment by the “Uptown Girls”...guaranteed to be very entertaining.

New Year's Eve tickets are now available. Tickets are $50 per person and include a buffet dinner with the main course being prime rib, turkey and haddock. Entertainment will be provided by the Perfect Match Band. Why not ring in the New Year with friends at the Senior Center. A good time is on the agenda.

The COA will be assisting Tewksbury Seniors with Fuel Assistance applications. To obtain information on the fuel assistance program and/or to schedule an appointment call 978-640-4482.

A reminder to all that when the Tewksbury Schools are canceled due to inclement weather, the activities at the Senior Center are canceled. The Center is open but activities are not held to insure the safety of our elderly.
