Woburn 2
The Tewksbury Boys Under 12-1 team drew a 2-2 tie with the Woburn BU12-2 team to end the season. Alex Papageorgiou and Chris Repucci shared keeper duties with some great stops. Adam Colon tied it at 1-1 at the 21 minute mark. He broke from left to right at the arc and then shot the ball back into the center of the net as the keeper and defender were both going right. Ameen Kalkhoran played sweeper for most of the first half and also had some good bids on direct and corner kick opportunities. Max Ducette showed a full recovery from his broken foot with a great effort. Jack Bicknell pushed hard at the left mid and forward positions. Chris McCabe made it 2-1 at the 25 minute mark. He dribbled from right to left towards the six-yard box and tucked a smart shot into the far right corner with his left foot. Gavin Slattery made a nice stop with his face in front of his own net. Shortly after, Connor Dane made a goal-saving stop right in front of his own net to foil a sure goal by Woburn. Nick Paolillo and Sam Fortier left it on the field for their last game of the year. David Durante had some promising rushes at the stiker position. Cameron Legvold and David Gammon played well at defense and offensive point throughout the game.
Tewksbury BU14-1
Tewksbury – 6
Waltham – 2
Tewksbury BU14-1 team capped off an undefeated season with a 6-2 win over Waltham at Frasca Filed. Tewksbury had already guaranteed a Commissioner’s Cup berth with a 0-0 tie last weekend against Billerica and on Wednesday night secured first place in their division with a 4-3 win away at Waltham. Tewksbury striker Dimitri Dimou started off the Tewksbury scoring by knocking in a low shot to the Waltham keepers left. Ten minutes later Tewksbury left mid-fielder Connor MacLean received a pass and took off towards the net. Connor cut inside and dribbled past a Waltham defender, stopped, positioned himself and shot a ball high to the keeper’s left and into the back of the net for a 2-0 Tewksbury lead. Fifteen minutes later, Tewksbury mid-fielder Joshua Cabral picked up a loose ball in front of the Waltham net and wasted no time in depositing it into the net for a 3-0 Tewksbury lead. The first half came to an end with Tewksbury controlling the flow of the game.
The second half started and Waltham tried to make it interesting by scoring a goal right away on a miscue between the Tewksbury keeper and the defense. Tewksbury regained control of the game and again started applying the pressure. Tewksbury, mid-fielder Nick Valente received a pass on the right side and took the ball almost to the touch line, then sent a beautifully placed shot over the keeper’s head and in the left corner of the net. Once again Tewksbury had a 3 goal lead. On a Waltham counter attack, the striker for Waltham took a shot from the right side that somehow eluded Tewksbury keeper Alex Botazzi, hit the cross bar and bounced into the net. Tewksbury, defender Shane Silvia tried to bicycle kick it out, but the ball had already crossed the line. Waltham was resilient and would not give up. Tewksbury was awarded a free kick on a Waltham hand ball from about 20 yards out. Mid-fielder Tyler Sar took the kick and arched a perfect shot over the Waltham wall and into the back of the net for a 5-2 lead. Tewksbury was not done yet and 5 minutes later on a corner kick, Josh Cabral controlled a loose ball, turned around and scored his second goal of the day to cap off a 6-2 Tewksbury win.
Congratulations to the BU14-1 team who went undefeated this spring with a record of 8 wins, 0 losses and 2 ties. As a result of their record, they are going into the Commissioner’s Cup Tournament as the number one seeded team in their bracket. Next Saturday, Tewksbury will face Malden in the semi-final at Frasca Field. The tournament is a single elimination tournament. So we are asking that as many people come out and support the BU14-1 team and all the Tewksbury teams that qualified for Commissioner’s Cup!

Tewksbury - 1
Wilmington - 2
Saturday the Tewksbury Girls played Wilmington at home looking for revenge from an earlier 4-0 loss. Once again Tewksbury had solid goaltending from Julia Cafferty as she may several fantastic saves during the game, including a clean breakaway that she turned aside without any difficulty. The defense was Cora Barrett, Kaitlin Sheehan, Ryan Quinn and Isabelle Frost pouncing on any loose balls and keeping them in the offensive side of the field and defending well against the Wilmington offensive attack. Wilmington scored their first goal on a loose ball bouncing to an open attacker, then their second goal in the first half was scored on a shot that was deflected in off of a Tewksbury defender.
The Second half saw the Tewksbury Offense pressure Wilmington relentlessly the entire half. The offense was lead by Erin Carter, Gianna DiGiorgio, Hannah Slattery, Caitlin Sheehan, Julia Garland and Isabelle Frost. They moved the ball well, kept great spacing and that lead to some great passing lanes. Isabelle broke free through the defense and scored on a great shot to make the score 2-1. Tewksbury kept up the pressure and had many opportunities to tie the score but were thwarted by the Wilmington goalie. We just a few ticks on the clock Tewksbury had one final chance as some great passing by Erin, Hannah, Julia lead to a open shot by Isabelle only to be stopped by the Wilmington goalie. The Game ended 2-1 Wilmington.
