Corned Beef Cabbage Dinner and Dance Friday Night at Senior Center

Annual Health Fair to take place May 1.

A note of thanks is extended to all those who patronized the Senior Center Breakfast Benefit this past Sunday and to those volunteered their services for the event. The next Sunday Breakfast will be held on April 14th.

The Friends and Seniors will hold an Annual Corned Beef Dinner and Dance this Friday, March 8th. One may drop by the Center or call 978-640-4480 to see if there are any tickets still available. Tickets are $15 per person and include a corned beef dinner served at 6:00 PM followed by dancing to the sounds of the Perfect Match Band. Volunteers are reminded that “Veggie Patrol” will be held on Thursday the 7th at 1:00 PM. Please bring your paring tools.

Those attending Dr. Smith's Podiatry Clinic are reminded to check their appointment times.

The next casino trip will be a visit to Foxwood on Monday, April 8th. Tickets will go on sale next Monday, March 11th at 8:15 AM. The cost of the trip is $25.

The Golden Age Club will hold its monthly meeting at the Senior Center next Tuesday, March 12th beginning at 12:30 PM. GAC bingo will follow the business meeting.

The Silvertones Band will hold its monthly dance at the Senior Center on Friday, March 15th at 7:00 PM. The public is welcome and tickets may be purchased at the door at $10 per person.

Karen Orband, RN, will be back to the Senior Center on Wednesday, March 20th at 10:30 AM for the “Diabetes Academy” hour. All are welcome to attend this informative hour. Ms. Orband is a wonderful lecturer; and, will be at the Center each month to talk about Diabetes. It is well worth your time to come on down for the “Diabetes Academy”.

At 12:30 PM on the 20th of March, the Council on Aging will hold its regular monthly meeting. All are welcome to attend.

Then in the evening of March 20th the Red Hat Carnation Belles will hold a Chinese Dinner and Buffalo Bingo Night. Tickets are now available at $10 per person and must be purchased by Monday, the 18th.

The Seniors and Friends will hold a YARD SALE at the Senior Center on Saturday, March 23rd from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The public is welcome to reserve tables. There are a few table spaces remaining for purchase. Table space is $15 per table or 2 tables for $25. The Yard Sale is held rain or shine. For more information one may call 978-640-4482.

DJ Jon Mansfield will be back to the Senior Center for an afternoon dance on Monday, March 25th. Those who obtain a ticket by March 20th will have lunch included in the $6 tickets price.

Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley will conduct a 6 week seminar at the Tewksbury Senior Center on “Powerful Tools for Caregivers”. This seminar will be held in the evening beginning on Wednesday, March 27th. For more information or to sign up for this free seminar, one may call Edler Services at 978-946-1251. Please note that space is limited. Therefore, it is advised that one register early.

Our AARP Tax Assistance Volunteers are very busy assisting Seniors with their tax returns. At the present time names are only being taken for a waiting list. To place a name on the waiting list, one may drop by the Senior Center or call Jan at 978-640-4482.

Barbara Antinoro is planning to begin Oil Painting Classes sometime in April. Watch for news on the class in up-coming columns.

The Tewksbury Board of Health and the Council on Aging will hold the Sixth Annual Health Fair at the Senior Center, 175 Chandler Street, on May 1, 2013 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. The Fair is open to all and will provide health, safety, and preventive educational information. Free admission. There will be Free Diabetes, Hearing, Blood Pressure Screenings, Massages, Lions Eye Mobile, Music, Refreshments, and much more. Lastly, the public is reminded that the Senior Center Upscale Consignment Boutique and the Snooti Patooti Gift Shop are open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Thursday. The Upscale is also open on Fridays from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Both shoppes carry some unique items. Why not come on down and browse. All proceeds from the shops support the programs and activities at the Senior Center.
