For the past several years, students from the Loella F. Dewing Elementary School have participated in the Dew-Gooders “Be My Valentine” Project by making handmade Valentines that bring cheer to the patients at the Tewksbury State Hospital.

Since this is a take-home project, children are able to share and work on making Valentines with their families. It is a very rewarding service project bringing joy and kindness to our community.

This year, 180 students handcrafted more than 300 Valentines that will definitely bring smiles to many faces. They decorated cards with beautiful drawings, stickers, doilies and hearts galore. Some loving and caring sentiments included “Love is everywhere,” “Sending you a smile, warm wishes and lots of love,, “Lots of love is being sent your way,” “Love never fails” and even shout outs to the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins and Superbowl Champs the New England Patriots. You can tell that each card was handmade with love.
