Field Hockey Bounces Back, Girls Soccer Stays Unbeaten In The MVC
Sarah Hogan's two goals lead Tewksbury to 6-1 win over Haverhill.
can do a little bit of everything with a field hockey stick, and she proved that again on Monday, scoring two goals to lead the to a commanding, 6-1 victory over Haverhill at Strong Field.
The win was a much needed one, coming on the heels of a disappointing loss to Central Catholic last Thursday.
"We bounced right back," said TMHS coach Pat Ryser. "We played a good all-around game."

In addition to Hogan, lots of other players got into the scoring act on Monday, as sophomore forwards Ashley Kelly and Cassidy Russell each scored their first career goals on the TMHS varsity.
Kelly started things off early for Tewksbury, scoring the game's first goal on an assist from sophomore Kelsie Bradley. Bradley (one goal, two asists) then scored on a pass from senior co-captain Sheri Liggiero. Junior forward Natalie Bourne then scored on another Liggiero assist to make it 3-0. It was Bourne's team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Hogan got her first of two late in the first half, assisted by sophomore Bridget Casey. Tewksbury tallied twice in the second half, with Hogan scoring on an assist from Russell, and Russell scoring on an assist from Bradley.
Tewksbury controlled the run of play from start to finish.
"It was pretty much all us," Ryser said. "They got the one goal but I think that was their only shot."
The Redmen were playing without their leading scorer, sophomore forward Hayley Sutherland, who suffered a mild concussion in the Central game.
"Losing Hayley hurts, but we got a chance to see some other kids in action and they did a pretty good job," Ryser said.
Tewksbury, now 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the Merrimack Valley Conference, plays at Methuen on Wednesday.
GIRLS SOCCER TEAM TOPS NOTRE DAME, 3-0
continued it's unblemished run through the Merrimack Valley Conference, improving its MVC record to 5-0 with a convincing, 3-0 win over Notre Dame Academy Monday afternoon in Tyngsboro.
Sophomore Sara Semenza scored Tewksbury's first goal 12 minutes into the game, assisted by Kashka Gammon and Aly Spencer. It was Semenza's first goal of the season.
Junior center midfielder Nicole Chaet made it 2-0 midway through the second half, taking a pass from junior midfielder Caitlyn Ludka and sliding it into the corner of the net.
Spencer, a sophomore striker, capped the scoring with 15 minutes to play on an unassisted goal. It was Spencer's team-leading ninth goal of the season.
Defensively, recorded her fourth shutout of the season, but was forced to make only one save, as the TMHS midfielders and defenders kept the ball in Tewksbury's offensive zone for most of the game. Sophomore outside back Kelly Quigley had an outstanding defensive game, and Semenza led the team in the hustle department.
Tewksbury is now 5-0 in the MVC (5-1 overall) , having outscored its five league opponents by a combined score of 17-1. The Redmen have an important MVC Division 2 match-up against Dracut Tuesday afternoon in Dracut.
