Program celebrates the 277th birthday of the Tewksbury.

(Editor's note: The following information was submitted by the Tewksbury Historical Society.)

will host a Tryout Night on Nov. 30, 2011 starting at 6:10pm.

This is the third year the program will be held. The tryouts are open to any person or groups of people that are interested in performing on Dec. 3, 2011 "Tewksbury Has Talent" Show.  This program celebrates the 277th Birthday of the Town of Tewksbury with an evening of entertainment ranching from singing, dancing, to instrumental performances, comedy, and magic acts.  The only restrictions are that you have to be a resident of Tewksbury but groups who have a resident may have others in the group that are from out of town.

The second restriction is that performers must be 9 years or older.  It is hoped this year will be the first time a senior citizen will be in the show!  The tryouts are a fun night and it is amazing how the other performers give support to the on-stage beginners.  While teams from professionally run dance or self defense programs are in the tryouts, many beginners tryout every year.  The tryouts are judged by a panel of judges and by the audience.  Audience judging costs $1.00 for a judging sheet and count for one half of the score.  The final show's order of performers reflect the scoring from the Tryout Night.  Winners of the tryout night will receive a performance award at the conclusion of the Tewksbury Has Talent Show.

While the program grew during the second year from the first, all the performers that were at the Tryout Night were part of the big show celebrating Tewksbury's Birthday.  The Tewksbury Has Talent Show will be opening on Dec. 3 at 6:30 on the stage of the Wynn Middle School.  If you attend both the Nov. 30 Tryout (admission is free) and the Dec. 3rd Talent Show, you will notice a big improvement in the student's performances.  Come and support our newest talents who are on stage perhaps for the first time.  The Dec. 3rd Show will have a brief intermission.  Birthday cake for the towns 277th Birthday will be given out free - as long as it lasts!  Tickets for the Dec. 3rd show will be on sale at the Local History Room each Tuesday from 3:30-5:30pm.  The Local History Room is on the second floor of the Tewksbury Library.  Come in and purchase a ticket and enjoy the history exhibits in the room.  Reservations may be made by emailing: tewksburyhistoricalsociety@msn.com and do not forget to order either premium seats ($8.00) or general admission seats ($6.00).  You may pick them up and pay for them at the "will call table" that night by 6:15pm.
