Gofundme Campaign Started in Support of Tewksbury Teen's Funeral Expenses

The campaign has raised nearly $7,000 in just under 24 hours.

TEWKSBURY, MA — The tragic death of a 15-year-old resident has stunned the Tewksbury community, and now residents are coming together in order to raise funds for the teen's funeral expenses.

A gofundme campaign has been started to support the funeral expenses of 15-year-old Ethan Costello, who was identified by multiple media outlets as the victim of an altercation at a party in Lowell. The district attorney's office, who did not identify the teenager, stated that he died after suffering a traumatic brain injury during the incident.

The description of the gofundme page can be found below.

As many of you know, Tewksbury was hit with a tragic loss of our beloved 15 year old Ethan Costello at a Halloween party. Parents should never get a call to come to the hospital and find your child in a coma, dying, being murdered senselessly. Ethan has touched many of our lives and I have set up this Go fund me account so the community can help the family offset the cost of his expenses at this difficult time. Please help me support this family and show your love for Ethan as we are forced to say goodbye to one of our beloved friends who has touched our lives so deeply! RIP Ethan! We love you!

As of noon on Tuesday, the campaign had raised $6,950 of its $10,000 goal. Tewksbury Public Schools superintendent Christopher Malone indicated in a release that school adjustment counselors, administrators and psychologists would be available to students to grieve and talk.
