High School Roundup: Redmen JVs Overmatched in 6-1 Loss to Indians

Ron Mallach scores for Tewksbury, who couldn't get it going against Billerica in a JV match.

On this day, the Redmen couldn't handle the Indians.

The Tewksbury JV squad showed their inexperience against a bigger, stronger Billerica team in a 6-1 defeat Thursday on Indians' home turf.

Five different Indians scored against the Redmen, who couldn't seem to stop the offensive attack. Joe Hill scored two of Billerica's six goals in the loss.

While some positives were able to be taken out of the defeat, it appeared that Tewksbury had extreme difficulty advancing the ball past midfield.

"Yes, we have lots of work to do and our guys need to learn to mark their man better, but our forwards and midfields are decent, they just need to learn to take advantage of their skills. We'll get better," said head coach Kevin Gillotte.

Goaltender Joe Dirusso did make several impressive saves, but the constant pressure was too much to handle with the constant attack from the Indians.

Ron Mallach scored the lone goal for the Redmen.
