IMAGE GALLERY: Dance Expressions Teams Rock Myrtle Beach

A group of 87 dancers from Tewksbury's Dance Expressions traveled to Myrtle Beach, SC last week to compete in Nextar's National Dance Competition.  Dance Expressions dancers competed in 30 different dances against studios from Minnesota, Ohio, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina and Michigan. 

"Rockstar", a jazz group 8 and under and "Dynamite", a tap group with the same dancers, earned a Platinum award and second and third place overall for their outstanding performance.  Also earning a Platinum award 2nd place overall was the 8 and under trio "Chipettes." 

"Dancing in the Streets", a hip hop dance, earned overall 2nd place for grand lines and "Avatar", a tap production, earned 4th place for productions. " We Become One" earned 2nd place overall for the Newstar 12 - 14 division.  "Oh the Things You Can Think," a Musical Theater number, earned 4th place overall for Newstar 12 - 14.  "When We're Human", a musical theater number, won a special award, "Big Noise" won a special award for great formations, and "What I Like About You" won 5th place overall for the Prestar 9 -11 division.

"Avatar" and "Dancing in the Streets" was called back to perform in Friday's "The Big Show", which was a televised entertainment challenge.

Dance Expressions earned a total of 10 Golds, 14 high golds, 3 platinums. Out of those 27 dances, 16 received 1st place in their category!  Congrats, girls!
