IMAGE GALLERY: Seniors Strut Their Stuff on the Runway at Bayberry

For some residents of , an assisted living community, being part of a fashion show is something fun and new to do. 

Still for others, it's a time machine that transports them to earlier years in life. 

"It's fun. I've modeled for different things quite a few years back," said Janie Bradford, who was a dancer and used to go ballroom dancing at tleast three times a week. 

On Sunday, Bradford was one of four members of the community that volunteered to dress up in this summer's newest fashion to model for audience members what's in style. 

"I've done things like that most of my life, so I'm used to it," Bradford said.

Marilyn Tavares was an audience member on Sunday, but that wasn't always a case. 

Tavares was accustomed to the stage as a contemporary dancer. She said she danced and taught others to dance for over 50 years.

While others think back to days of dancing and modeling, Joan McKeon is just happy to be a spectator. 

"It's fun," said the 82-year-old. "We get to see each other all dressed up and we don't really do that."

This is the second time a fashion show was organized for seniors at the home, according to Lynn Murphy, program director at Bayberry. 

The clothes and accessories were provided by Fashion Bug, a women's fashion store in Wilmington. 

"We just wanted to share some time with the community," said Minerva Nino, store manager.

Residents were content to be part of the festivities and to watch their friends sashay down the runway. 

Jessie Rousmaniere was one of them. 

When McKeon mentioned that Rousmaniere should model she chuckled to herself and said, "I'm deaf, I can't see, and I'm out of balance. So that's a losing battle."
