Library News: Line-Up For Adult Programming Over Next 3 Weeks

Event Information: All library events below are intended for adults. Events are free, but registration is required. Learn All About Antique Clocks
Tuesday, July 29, 7pm
Join Bob Frishman, owner of Bell-Time Clocks, for a free class on antique clocks. Learn about the history, styles, makers, values, collecting, repairing, and cultural importance of clocks. More than 100 projected images will illustrate familiar and unusual timekeepers from Frishman’s own collection and from more than 5,000 clocks he has serviced. A free informal “road-show” appraisal session will follow the class. Attendees can each bring one antique clock to be identified and evaluated. All appraisals will be verbal. The number of appraisals given may be limited due to time constraints and crowd size. Limited to 100 seats.

Tewksbury Job Seekers Network: Discover Other Area Networking Groups

Come learn about other networking groups in the area. Hear from representatives and pick up promotional materials from each group. Where do they meet? When do they meet? How often do they meet? How can they benefit you? How can you learn more? There will be time to share your own experiences with other networking groups. Limited to 25 seats.

A Visit From The American Textile History Museum

Join David Unger, Director of Interpretation at the Museum, to learn more about one of the Merrimack Valley’s most popular museums. An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, the American Textile History Museum tells America’s story through the art, history, and sciences of textiles. The Museum holds the world’s largest and most important collection of tools, spinning wheels, hand looms, and early production machines, as well as more than five million pieces of textile prints, fabric samples, and costumes. Mr. Unger will also take your questions and offer some insider tips for visiting. Limited to 100 seats.

Join library staff for a 30-minute, 1-on-1 class to learn how to download free library ebooks to your e-reader. Tewksbury Substance Abuse Awareness Talk: The Speakers For Hope

Tewksbury’s young people are facing an epidemic of addiction. The Speakers For Hope program is part of the Gavin Foundation’s continuum of care that includes education, prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery support services through various programs. The program uses motivational speakers, often young adults who have overcome addiction, to facilitate substance abuse prevention sessions.
