Man Charged In Fatal Pedestrian Crash In Lowell: DA's Office

Two pedestrians lost their lives after police said Tyriek Brown, 26, struck them with his Ford Mustang while racing on Pawtucket Boulevard.

LOWELL, MA—A man is behind bars and charged in connection with a deadly crash Thursday that claimed the lives of two pedestrians. According to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lowell Police Superintendent Kelly Richardson, Tyriek Brown, 26, of Everett has been charged with motor vehicle homicide and manslaughter in connection with the crash.

Authorities said a preliminary investigation shows that around 6:30 p.m., Brown was racing with another vehicle in the westbound travel lane of Pawtucket Boulevard in Lowell when his black Ford Mustang veered off the road, striking two pedestrians on the sidewalk. Police said speed was a factor in the fatal crash.

The pedestrians have been identified as Jose Medina, 66 and Fernanda Medina, 62 of Lowell. Police said first responders performed life-saving measures on the couple at the scene before they were transported to Lowell General Hospital where they were pronounced deceased.
