Memorial Day In Tewksbury: What You need To Know

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Monday, May 28, is Memorial Day, and the town will be hosting a ceremony at noon at Tewksbury Cemetery at 172 East Street. The ceremony is highlighted by a guest speaker, Army Specialist Scott R. Delaney. A parade will step off at 1 pm after the ceremony.

What's Open And Closed On Memorial Day

The holiday also means government offices and some businesses will be closed. Before you head out, check our list of what's open and closed on the holiday

  • Retail stores: Open at owner's discretion
  • Subway, buses: Sunday schedule.
  • Supermarkets: Open
  • Convenience stores: Open
  • Bars: Open
  • Banks: Closed
  • Basically anything to do with municipal government: Closed
  • Libraries, see above: Closed
  • Schools: Closed
  • Mail: Express delivery only
  • Trash/recycling collection: Delayed one day. Pickup is on Thursday, May 31 during the week of Memorial Day. It's a blue recycling week and also last week of the town's leaf pickup.
