Third place in Fine Arts was awarded to Hannah Goodwin, of Chelmsford, for her charcoal and soft pastel painting “No Good Gourd.” Second place was awarded to Kenneth Reed for his pencil drawing titled “The Waste.” Best in show was presented to Carolyn Bruckler, of Burlington, for her plaster sculpture titled “Joey’s Nest.”

“Although Middlesex is often thought of as a workforce development college, education in the arts is an important part of what we do,” said Matthew Olsen, MCC Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences.  “We are extremely proud of the work our students do.”

This is the third year the show has been held at the Lowell Telecommunications Corp. “The LTC offers a great venue for the show,” said Margaret Swan, Chairwoman of MCC’s Fine Art & Graphic Design Department. “It is exciting for students to be able to have a chance to show their work in a public forum outside of the college setting.”

MCC’s Student Art and Design Show will be on display through May 15. Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
