Central Catholic star is also featured in HNIB magazine.
Of the nearly 400 talented high school players to take part in last week’s Hockey Night in Boston tournament only 17 were profiled in the program.
Tewksbury’s Mike Kelleher was one of them.
“It was a great honor to be in the magazine,” Kelleher said. “Couldn’t ask for anything more.”

Kelleher, who netted 15 goals last year for Central Catholic, played for the Middlesex/Merrimack team during the tournament and played a key role in helping the squad advance to the title game.
Hockey Night brought together players for over two dozen states as well a pair of Canadian provinces (Quebec and Manitoba). Kelleher said that being able to play with and against kids from across America was a fun experience.

“It’s a great experience, great tournament, great atmosphere,” Kelleher said. ““It’s awesome,” Kelleher said. “Playing with all these great kids you pick up things that you don’t usually pick up around here. Playing with them makes you even better.”
After a phenomenal junior year at Central, Kelleher had a decision to make: stay at Central or transfer to a prep school. For Kelleher though, the decision was easy.
“It’s been the plan all along to finish my four years at Central,” Kelleher said. “hopefully we can win a Super 8 [tournament title] this year.”
Despite playing well during the Hockey Night showcase Kelleher said that he still has to keep improving on the ice if he wants to play in juniors, college, and beyond.
“Probably just continue to play well,” Kelleher said. “I’m trying to get better every time I’m out there.”
