Most Of Tewksbury Will Have Power Restored By Wednesday Night
Good news for most, but bad news for the 1,200 or so customers who may have to spend another night in the dark and cold.

TEWKSBURY, MA -- National Grid expects to have power restored to 90% of its customers in Tewksbury by Wednesday night, but the remaining 10% of the company's 12,744 customers in town could have to wait another 24 hours in the dark as the utility tries to mop up the remaining, scattered outages. Overniht temperatures are not expected to be as cold as last night, when the temperature dipped below freezing, but nerves in the town are clearly frayed as one-in-ten residents woke to a third day without heat and light Wednesday.
As of 2 pm Wednesday, National Grid said 1,265 of its Tewksbury customers were still without power -- which is about equal to the 10% the utility said may be in for another night without electricity. A spokesperson for the company was not immediately available for comment Wednesday to explain whether or not anymore Tewksbury customers could expect a restoration of power today.
The town postponed trick-or-treating until Friday night from 6 to 8 pm, but public schools have been open every day this week, even as other hard-hit towns in the region canceled classes, closed government offices and set up warming and recharging stations for residents.

Across the state, National Grid still had 30,000 customers without power at 1:30 pm Wednesday afternoon. EverSource, by comparison, which services towns closer to Boston, on the South Shore and on Cape Cod, had no town with more than 131 customers without power by the same time on Wednesday.
