No State Money For Route 38 Resurfacing In Tewksbury
The town had applied for the grant as part of an effort to prep the road for new developments between Colonial Drive and Hinckley Road.

TEWKSBURY, MA -- The town had its application for $2.5 million from MassWorks to resurface a portion on Route 38 denied this week. The state said it had received 96 applications from municipalities asking for $230 million. In the end, it made 47 grants totaling $85 million.
Tewksbury had planned to use the money to make improvements on the stretch of Route 38 between Colonial Drive and Hinckley Road. There is a new, 192-unit apartment building and a medical office building in th vicinity of the project area. Assistant Town Manager Steve Sadwick told the Lowell Sun, which first reported this story, that he did not expect the denial to delay those projects.
"The downside to not having the grant is not having the ability to get in and resurface Route 38," he told the newspaper.
