Online Suicide Pact Between Students at Tewksbury and Winthrop High Schools Foiled
Tewksbury High was locked down Thursday morning, as was Winthrop. Both students are secured, officials say.

Tewksbury High School was on lockdown Thursday after a student posted something inappropriate and threatening online, officials say. With a similar situation unfolding in Winthrop, officials say there was a suicide pact among a student in Tewksbury and a student at Winthrop High School that may have involved two other communities, as well.
Tewksbury Superintendent Dr. John O’Connor told the Town Crier the Tewksbury student was taken to the hospital and the lockdown was lifted.
Winthrop Schools were also on lockdown Thursday after Winthrop Police received a call just before 10 a.m. saying a pact was posted online.

The Winthrop Police Chief addressed the media just before 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon saying students from both Tewksbury High School and Winthrop High School were in a pact and both have been secured.
The Winthrop Police Chief says two students were involved. He went on to say initial concerns were multiple students from multiple schools may have been involved.

Tewksbury’s O’Connor says he does not believe this to be a suicide pact and that the three girls communicating had never met one another, he told NECN Thursday afternoon. He went on to tell the station one threatened to harm herself, another made a threat to bring a gun to school while the third asked if they could grab something from Wendy’s first.
One of the students also posted threats toward other schools including Woburn and Manchester, New Hampshire, along with Tewksbury and Winthrop, according to CBS Boston.
