The Tewksbury Public Library schedule for the next week is happening!

Summer Author Series: Chuck Collins (“Born On Third Base”) (*RR) - Thursday, July 6, 7pm

Author Chuck Collins will discuss his book, Born on Third Base: A One Percenter Makes the Case for Tackling Inequality, Bringing Wealth Home, and Committing to the Common Good. Collins, the great grandson of meatpacker Oscar Mayer, gave away his inheritance at the age of 26. He is currently based at the Institute for Policy Studies, a progressive think tank, and is an editor at Inequality.org. Q&A and book selling and signing after the event for those interested. Limited to 75 seats.
Summer Film Series: The Zookeeper’s Wife (*RR) - Friday, July 7, 8:30pm

Enjoy a screening of one of Hollywood's newest DVD releases -- The Zookeeper's Wife, a historical drama starring Jessica Chastain and Johan Heldenbergh. The Zookeeper's Wife tells the account of keepers of the Warsaw Zoo, Antonia and Jan Zabinski, who helped save hundreds of people and animals during the German invasion. Rated PG-13. Doors will open 15 minutes early. Candy and water will be served. Can’t make it at 8:30pm? The library will also screen the film at 12:30pm. Limited to 75 seats.
Tewksbury Job Seekers: How To Create Business Cards For The Job Search (*RR) - Monday, July 10, 2pm
Learn how to handle sudden change and stress in your life. Stress can bring on depression and create fear and anger. They can change your outlook on life and cause you to become stagnant, bitter and unproductive. Discover six interesting ways to gain control of your life and break free of the stress cycle. Led by Anne Crawford, a certified life coach. There will be time for networking after the presentation. Limited to 25 seats.
Summer Concert Series: Savoir Faire (*RR) - Monday, July 10, 7pm
Enjoy a one-hour concert with Savoir Faire on the library's event lawn. Savoir Faire is a vocal and guitar duo that brings the American Songbook to life with a unique and sultry take on the classics -- the music of Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Diana Krall, Peggy Lee, George Gershwin and Harold Arlen -- in the style of Ella Fitzgerald with Joe Pass and Julie London with Barney Kessel. Savoir Faire consists of two very accomplished artists -- vocalist Les Sampou and archtop Jazz guitarist Jim Gordon. Come listen to Sampou and Gordon who share the spotlight and create an evening that’s fun, stylish and so “savoir faire”: just right! CDs available for purchase after the concert for those interested. Bring your own chairs or blankets.
Tech Tuesdays: How To Download Free Music with Freegal (*RR) - Tuesday, July 11, 2pm
Become a library power user! Learn how to download free music with Freegal, a free online service offered to Tewksbury residents through the Tewksbury Public Library. Demonstrations, videos, handouts and Q&A will be included. Please note this is NOT a hands-on session, but participants will leave ready to set up an account and start using Freegal on their own. Limited to 10 seats.
Summer Lecture Series: Indian Classical Dance Demo & Lecture (*RR) - Tuesday, July 11, 7pm
Dancers from the Triveni School of Classical Indian Dance will give several brief performances, each followed with a short lecture explaining how the dance reflects Indian culture and traditions, as well as the significance of each composition. Triveni School of Dance is a non-profit organization dedicated to the education and performance of classical Indian dance, social awareness, and the celebration of cultural diversity, founded in 1971 by Neena Gulati, an acclaimed dancer from New Delhi, India. Limited to 75 seats.
Poetry Circle (*RR) - Wednesday, July 12, 1:30pm
Join us as we appreciate and discuss a few poems each month! Poems will be available one week before the meeting at the Front Desk so that there will be time to look them over. Limited to 10 seats.
Summer Living History Series: An Evening of Victorian Medicine (*RR) - Wednesday, July 12, 1:30pm
Enjoy a one-hour performance from actress Janet Parnes as she portrays Miss Myrtle Mills. You are certain to gasp, cringe and ah-ah, as you learn about the milestone discoveries, quaint practices and horrifying procedures that characterize turn–of-the- century medicine! Join us to explore past practices that defy today’s medical sense and discoveries that are at the foundation of 21st-century medicine. As the founder of Historical Portrayals by Lady J, Janet Parnes has been entertaining audiences with historical-character portrayals since 2001. Bring your own chairs or blankets. In the case of inclement weather, the performance will be held in the library's Fairgrieve Wing.
Adult Non-Fiction Book Group: The Lost City of Z by David Grann (*RR) - Thursday July 13, 10:30am
The library's Non-Fiction Book Group is reading The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon by David Grann this month. New readers are always welcome!
Summer Author Series: Chuck Collins (“Singing In My Own Key”) (*RR) - Thursday, July 13, 7pm
Author Valerie L. Giglio will discuss her new book, Singing In My Own Key: A Vocalist's Triump Over Stroke. After sharing her inspirational story, Giglio will perform a 30-minute concert for attendees. Giglio, a local up-and- coming professional vocalist with two CDs to her name, recently suffered a near fatal stroke that turned her world upside down. Completely paralyzed on one side, confined to a wheelchair, and with her signing voice stolen from her at the height of her career, Giglio was devastated. But with fierce determination and fortitude, she faced down every setback and obstacle in her path. Overcoming paralysis and regaining her singing voice, Giglio returned to the stage just a year after her stroke. Q&A and book selling and signing after the event for those interested. Limited to 75 seats.

Enjoy a screening of one of Hollywood's newest DVD releases -- The Lost City Of Z, an action adventure starring Charlie Hunnam and Robert Pattinson. A true-life drama, centering on British explorer Col. Percival Fawcett, who disappeared while searching for a mysterious city in the Amazon in the 1920s. Rated PG-13. Doors will open 15 minutes early. Candy and water will be served. Can’t make it at 8:30pm? The library will also screen the film at 12:30pm. Limited to 75 seats.
Kids Events
Rockets: There And Back Again with the Museum of Science (*RR) - Thursday, July 6, 3:15pm
Create an air rocket that launches across the room and engineer a way for a payload to return safely to Earth. This hands-on workshop explores the science behind rockets and space exploration. Use your imagination to plan, build, and test your own design with the Museum of Science staff. Latex materials will be used in this program. For kids entering 1 st grade to 5 th grade. Limited to 25 seats. (Please note the 2pm session is FULL.)
Family Fun Days: Sprinkler Day - Friday, July 7, 11am
This week’s Family Fun Friday is Sprinkler Day! Come splash around with us as we set up sprinklers in the grass behind the library. For all ages.
Maker Mondays - Monday, July 10, 2pm
Come make something at the library this afternoon! We make something different each Monday. Drop in any time during the session to make this week’s project. For ages 5 to 11.
Preschool Story Time - Tuesday, July 11, 11am
Join Miss Noelle for stories, songs, dancing, instruments and more in this early literacy session. For ages 3 to 6. Older or younger siblings are always welcome.
Magic by Scott Jameson (*RR) - Wednesday, July 12, 11am
Join magician and juggler Scott Jameson for an extraordinary performance that will have you laughing out loud and perched on the very edge of your seat. Umbrellas will be plucked from thin air, a drawing will come to life, basketballs will be spun and juggled, and the audience will travel through time. Don’t miss it! Space is limited. A ticket is required for admittance. FREE tickets are available at the Children'ss desk beginning on July 3rd. Limit of 6 tickets per person. Everybody coming into the room needs a ticket-- adults included! For ages 4 to 11.

Family Fun Days: Fairy Houses - Friday, July 14, 11am
This week’s Family Fun Friday is Fairy Houses! Join us to build tiny houses fit for a fairy! We'll be using all natural materials so that when we're done, we can leave the houses in the grass for the fairies to enjoy. For all ages.

Are you interested in Japanese culture? Want to explore Japanese anime and manga? Want to share your latest anime and manga discoveries? Join us at Animanga Club where we watch anime, share manga titles, and eat treats. New members welcome. Optional cosplay welcome. Open to those in Grades 6-12.
Teen Advisory Group (*RR) - Tuesday, July 11, 5:30pm
Do you want to get involved at your library? Help plan fun teen events? Help build the teen collection? Want to meet new friends? Need to earn community service hours? Join the Teen Advisory Group (TAG), where we meet monthly, enjoy pizza, and participate in a fun activity. New members always welcome. Open to those in Grades 6-12.
