Pair Charged With Fentanyl Trafficking In Tewksbury, Police Say

TEWKSBURY, MA — Police arrested two people on multiple drug charges Wednesday.

Heather Chong, 42, of Orlando, FL, was charged with trafficking 10 grams or more of fentanyl and possession of a class B drug (crack cocaine).

Ryan McCarthy, 35, of Billerica, was charged with trafficking 10 grams or more of fentanyl, possession of a class B drug (crack cocaine) and possession of a class A drug, according to police.

Police responded at about 4:30 p.m. to a hotel on Andover street after an employee reported finding suspected drugs in a room.

Officers examined the substances and believed them to be fentanyl and crack cocaine.

Following an investigation, police identified McCarthy and Chong as the two people staying in the room.

Police seized about 17.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine and 25.4 grams of suspected fentanyl.

Both were arraigned in Lowell District Court.
