PHOTOS: VFW Voice Of Democracy Awards Dinner
Tewksbury teens honored for patriotic presentations.
recently hosted its 2011 Voice of Democracy Awards dinner.
Teens participating in the Voice of Democracy contest for high school students and Patriot's Pen competition for junior high students were honored.
Taking home the top prizes were Brian Grayson (Voice of Democracy) and Cassidy McAuliffe (Patriot's Pen). Each received a $50 prize and had their entry submitted to the district competition.

According to VFW Post Commander Vinnie Oliva, each of the students who entered was awarded a check for $25 from the post just for participating.
The theme for the 2011 Voice of Democracy was "Is There Pride Serving In Our Military?" The theme for the 2011 Patriot's Pen was "Are You Proud Of Your Country?" The Patriot's Pen is strictly a writing competition, while students must writer a record a speech for Voice of Democracy.

Oliva also announced that the theme for the 2012 Voice of Democracy will be ""Is Our Constitution Still Relevant?" and the theme for the 2012 Patriot's Pen will be "What I would Tell America's Founding Fathers."
