'Proud Alumni' Doherty Racks Up Wins With Redmen

Veteran Tewksbury High School boys hockey coach Derek Doherty said he doesn't picture himself coaching anywhere else.

Derek Doherty enjoys winning. And he enjoys winning at his alma mater. That's why for the last 12 years and for the foreseeable future, there's no place he'd rather be.

"I love to win and I love to win with Tewksbury kids," said the Tewksbury High School boys hockey coach Doherty. "It'd be pretty tough for me to go and coach somewhere else."

Unfortunately for Doherty, this year he won't be able to add another state title to his resume. The Redmen were stunned by Watertown in the opening round of the North Division 2 tournament on Tuesday night.
