Red Pride B Ties Dover; Cheyenne Rolls Over Comanche

Division: Northeast Junior High Football

Team: Division 2 Varsity

Score: Lowell 32- Tewksbury 0

Tewksbury Division 2 had all they could handle with Lowell. Tyler Ward and Billy Tamobli worked hard for every yard and showed true Tewksbury Toughness. Ryan Sughrue left everything he had on the field and left the game in the 4^th quarter with an injury. TJ Taddia filled in for Ryan Sughrue at QB and did an excellent job.

Billy Tamboli had a big interception on the goal line. Brett McAllister made some good blocks and a couple of big hits on defense.

Team: Division 2 Junior Varsity

Score: Lowell 14-Tewksbury 8

 Tewksbury Division 2 JV team played a very exciting football game. QB TJ Taddia took control of the offense and Matt McLaughlin and Mohammad Yatim ran the ball with some power. The JV had a 8 to 6 lead in the 4^th quarter only to lose 14-8. The JV team had a hard fought game against Lowell.

Score: Tewksbury Red Pride A 14 Exeter West Seahawks 0

 The Red Pride A team shined as they earned a share of the top stop in the Seacoast Leagues Atlantic Conference in their first home contest of the young season. The A team final was 14-0.

The Red’s defense continues to set the pace as they earned their second shut out in as many weeks. Tested right out the gate after the Seahawks took the opening kick off to the Red Pride 4 yard line. The D held and even pushed back with punishing tackles by linebackers Zach Frontain and Brandon Winn. Through out the day defensive end Jonny Spinelli played superbly never letting the visitors running attack reach the edge and sending them back to the awaiting defensive line pressure delivered by Giovanni Ciampa, Jake Durant and Jackson Deroche. Other defensive contributors were Peter Carey and Jared Mason.

Offensively the Red Pride struck quickly and impressively. Immediately following the goal line stand to open the game the squad only took three plays to reach pay dirt. Quarterback Cody Sughrue took a misdirection play around the right edge for an 80 yard touchdown run. The valuable two point conversion was converted by a slashing Brandon Winn. Shortly after the Red Pride were again adding points to the board. This time on the efforts of Giovanni Ciampa racing down the left sideline 70 yards for his first of the season. Adding to the offensive efforts of the morning were the blocking provided Sam Fortier, Nick Heinze and Steven Wilson.

Score: Exeter West Seahawks 24 Tewksbury Red Pride B 14

The Red Pride's B Team suffered their first defeat of the season to the hands of the Exeter West Seahawks 24-14. The Red Pride got off to a fast start going ahead 12-6 in the first half with a 40yd rush up the sideline from Kyle Zervas and a 20yd pass reception to Fran Pino. Josh Sughrue had another strong game on both sides of the ball throwing for a TD pass and added keys rushes throughout the game. Derek Graffeo had a breakout game on the offensive side of the ball with a big pass reception putting Exeter on their heals and changing up their whole game plan. The defense looked strong early on with big plays from Shane Noone, Dylan Bock and Matt Allen. But in the end the ground attack of the Seahawks was just too much for the Red Pride who look to rebound next week on the road against Dover.

Team: Tewksbury Blue Pride A

Score: Tewksbury Blue Pride A 8 Dover 0

Tewksbury came ready to play ball scoring 3 TDS. Offensive standouts were Jesse Lamarca running hard and scoring a 40 yd. TD up the middle and Nolan Kavanaugh breaking multiple tackles to score the second TD. Alec Hirtle darted around the end for the third TD. Mason Lorick scored the 2 extra points. All TDS were possible because of the blocking lead by Joe Rosberg and Gavin MacDonald. Christian Erbetta, Trevor Nickerson, Owen Steen, Christopher Lucas, Brendan Studley, Troy Acconcia, and Aaron Kennen did outstanding blocking to make everything possible. Defense was like a well oiled machine shutting down Dover's offense. Joe Rosberg had to many tackles to count while Chris Monteneri shut down the passing game. Trevor Nickerson, Kyle Privetera, Jesse Lamarca, Nolan Kavanaugh, Mason Lorick, Troy Acconcia, Gavin MacDonald, Chris Lucas, Christian Erbetta, and Brendan Studley played solid defense hitting like animals.

Team: Tewksbury Blue Pride B

Score: Tewksbury Blue Pride 0 – Dover 0

Tewksbury JV played well but could not get in the endzone. Tyler Wilson executed the plays to run smoothly. Daniel Mottolo and James Connolly did a great job running and blocking well. Shane Darrigo ran like a tank to gain multiple yards throughout the entire game. Alex Sousa, Michael Steen, Mackin MacDonald, Joshua Gill, Derek Schumaker, Connor "The Brick" Brinklow, and Dominic Jolly did great holding their blocks. Defensive standouts were Jimmy Strickler who was in Dover's backfield more than they were. Jamesie Cash, Connor Brinklow, Derek Schumaker, Danny Mottolo and Shane Darrigo were rock solid on defense. Adam Hines, Joshua Gill, Dominic Jolly and James Connolly hit hard to keep the offense at bay. Colby Wilson did well in the secondary defending the pass with Jacob Garland. Other players who came to play hard on both sides of the ball were Joe White and Eric Szloch.

Team: Comanche

Score: Comanche 6 Cheyenne 26

The Comanche’s played a tough game against the Cheyenne today dropping their second game of the season in as many weeks. The Cheyenne Defensive Line was able to overpower the Comanche Offensive line causing problems in the backfield throughout the game. Billy Chase (#1) had the only Comanche score of the day as he ran down the sideline late in the 2^nd quarter behind the blocking of Matt Rosemond, Patrick Rosemond and Nolan Timmons. On defense, the Comanches came alive in the second half having a great performance from Colin Bozek, Andrew Farrell and Colin Fullerton. Both stepped up their game to stop two key drives of the Cheyenne offense.

Team: Cheyenne

Score: Cheyenne 26 Comanche 6

Danny Lightfoot started off the game with an interception run back for a touchdown followed by Tyler Keough who had an outstanding total of three touchdowns along with an interception. Evan Mantell also had a great game as running back behind the extraordinary blocking by team mate Brodie Tirrell who was also dominating on defense. Anthony Op was outstanding on both sides of the ball with great tackles and fierce blocking skills. Quarter back Thomas Bradley showed off his skills throwing a 40 yard pass resulting in a touchdown. Brendan Lamothe, Owen Gilligan, Jared Bova, Richard Lavargna, Jack O’Neill, Savion Piche, Kyle Scrooc, Anthony Desisto, and Jared Doyle all performed well individually and as a team with blocking, and shutting down the Comanche offense.

Team: Wamesit

Score: Wamesit 12 Mohawk 6 (OT)

 For the second week in a row, the Wamesit were victorious in overtime. This time, it was a heart stopping 12-6 win over the Mohawk. The Wamesit were forced to play the game without their starting QB and DE Paul Manzi. Nicky Iannacci stepped in at QB and did a fantastic job of running the offense. Iannacci set up the first score on a great run on 4th and long to bring the ball down inside the one. Matt Houghton punched it through the line for the score behind the blocking of Gavin Thomasset, Mike Woodford, Robbie Kimtis, Felix Navarrete, Jake Forgione, Aidan Hartman and Jack Meuse-Sitar. The defense took over from there stifling the vaunted Mohawk offense. Aidan Crogan and Zach Hines followed up a great week of practice with outstanding efforts on defense. Matt Brennan, Collin Powers and Jason Elias also played well helping to hold the Mohawk scoreless until the final play of the game. With the game knotted at 6, the Wamesit needed to deny the extra point to force OT. It looked like the game would end as the point was about to be scored but Santino Garofalo came flying across the field to make a brilliant tackle just short of the goal line. The Wamesit showed great character as they regrouped and in OT, the stingy defense held the Mohawk out of the endzone. Kyle Darrigo ended the game on offense as he bounced an inside run outside to the pylon for the winning score.

The Wamesit would like to congratulate the Mohawk for a well played game as well as thank the Wamesit fans and cheerleaders. Teegan Carter, Lauren Connors, Bianca Garofalo, Paige Harrington, Morgan Lindsey, Gabriella Navarrete, Madison Pierce, Hailey Porier, Shayne O'Neil, Gabriella Ortiz, Mackenzie Reitano, Riann Savoia, Alyssa Souza and Christina Spezzaferro along with coaches Paige Winn, Rose Souza and Dede Somerville have been working tirelessly to cheer the team on all season and their hard work is greatly appreciated.
