 sweep the Derry Wolverine with final tally for the A team was a decisive 24-0.

The day was defined by the stinging defense of the Red Pride which was rewarded with the shut out. The defensive line lead by Giovanni Ciampa and Jackson Deroche and was reinforced by the linebacking core of Brandon Winn, Zach Frontain, and Joshua Sughrue. Cornerbacks Mason Brown and Kyle Zervas shut down the air attack highlighted by a late game interception by Zervas.

The offense delivered a punishing running attack grinding out their scores behind a solid offensive line effort. Exceptional blocking was delivered by Zach Frontain, Jackson Deroche and Zach Weitz. The Red Pride scored in the first quarter on the legs of Brandon Winn who scored his first of two TD’s on the day from 5 yards out. The two point conversion was added by Quarterback Cody Sughrue. The next points were collected courtesy of C. Sughrue again this time he captured 6 points from 30 yards out behind a pulling Jared Mason. The conversion was added by Winn. The final tally came again with Winn behind the lead blocking of Ciampa and again C. Sughrue added two more bringing the total for the day to 24-0.

Other Red Pride players with notable efforts on the day were Jared Mason who managed to secure a first down on a broken punt attempt, Peter Carey and Francis Pino on defense and Nick Heinze and Sam Fortier on the offensive line.

Team: Red Pride B

Score: Red Pride 34 Derry Wolverines 14

 The Tewksbury Red "B" Team started the day off with a big 34-14 win over Derry, improving their record to 2-0. The day was defined by the relentless rushing attack from the Red Pride. Kyle Zervas found the end zone 5 times, 4 for TD's and 1 extra point. The other TD came from QB Josh Sughrue rushing up the middle from 6 yards out. None of this could have been accomplished if not for the punishing blocking by Jared Gillis, Anthony Medeiros, Dylan Bock, and Tanner Lentz. The defense held strong all day with big plays coming from Trace Trant, Brandon Pote and Derek Graffeo.

Team: Blue Pride A

Score: Blue Pride A 8 Exeter East Seahawks 0

 The Tewksbury 5/6 Blue Pride travel teams played their 2nd regular season game against the Exeter East Seahawks at home on Saturday, 17 Sep 11. The “A” team came out on top by a score of 8 – 0. The lone TD came on a 14 yard run up the middle by Jesse Lamarca. The offensive line did a great job of blocking allowing Lamarca, Lorick and Nolan Kavanaugh to break many long runs. The blocking by running backs Kavanaugh and Hirtle made for many long runs by Lamarca around the outside. The defensive play by the Blue Pride team was exceptional. The defense was led by Trevor Nickerson with a Safety and fumble recovery. Masyn Lorick also had an interception to stop a key drive by the Seahawks. The entire defense played exceptional by holding the Seahawks to very few yards from scrimmage. The team now has a 2 – 0 record in Seacoast Travel League.

Team: Blue Pride B

Score: Exeter East Seahawks 6 Blue Pride 0

 The second game of the day by the Blue Pride “B” team ended with a loss by the Tewkesbury Blue “B” team by a score of 6 - 0. The offensive running group of James Connolly, Jamesie Cash, Makin MacDonald and Jake Garland had many yards gained from scrimmage. The defense played a very good game allowing the Seahawks very few yards and 1st downs. The QB play of Tyler Wilson kept the offense in the game the entire day. The coaches would like to thank the Cheerleaders and fans for their support throughout the game.

 Division: Junior                 

Team: Wamesit

Score: Wamesit 14 Cheyenne 13 (OT)

 The Wamesit bounced back with a thrilling overtime 14-13 win over a talented Cheyenne squad. The defense came up big all game long keeping the Green attack at bay with several big stops on 4th down. Matt Houghton made multiple hard hits and showed great pursuit. Santino Garofalo could not be blocked and disrupted the offense all day as did the tandem of Mike Woodford and Robbie Kimtis. Jack Meuse-Sitar made a standout play to turn the ball over on downs. Collin Powers, Matt Brennan, Zach Hines, Jake Forgione and Aidan Crogan all played hard on the defensive end.

 The Wamesit were trailing 7-0 in the 4th quarter when Paul Manzi scored on a 6 yd run with Kyle Darrigo punching in the all-important extra point to tie. Gavin Thomasset, Aidan Hartman and Felix Navarrete helped the clutch drive with their blocking. The game would go to OT with the Cheyenne taking the lead on the opening possession. On their extra point attempt however, Nicky Iannacci stepped up with a big stick to deny the play. The Wamesit offense wasted no time with Kyle Darrigo showing his nose for the end zone from 5 yds out on the first play. Darrigo capped the comeback win by scampering to the pylon to convert the extra point.

Both teams could hold their heads high after this battle. It was a hard fought game and the Wamesit found the inspiration they needed from their talented cheerleaders and their dedicated fans.

Team: Comanche

Score: Comanche 6 Mohawks 20

 The Comanche’s played a tough game against the Mohawks today dropping their first game of the season. The Mohawks were able to shut down the Comanche Offense thru the 1st half going into halftime leading 7 to 0. On the first play of the 3rd quarter, Billy Chase (#1) ran to the end zone behind the blocking of Kevin Carey (#45), Cullain Johnson (#71), Sean Phaneuf (#3) and Ryan Keane (# 75). This brought them within 1 point but they could not get anything going against the aggressive Mohawk Defense. Nolan Timmons (#83) had to be taken from the field by ambulance early in the 4th quarter after taking a crushing tackle from the defense of the Mohawks. The Comanche family is happy to report that Nolan is doing fine and should return to action sometime this week.
