Redmen Baseball, Softball Brace for Postseason

Tewksbury High School baseball enters the playoffs as a heavy underdog while the softball team will be a slight favorite in the first round.

The Tewksbury High School baseball and softball teams have difficult roads ahead of them. But as the expression goes, at least they're in the dance.

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association released its postseason pairings on Tuesday, and both Redmen teams are in the tournament.

After a 14-6 regular season, Tewksbury snagged the No. 8 seed in North Division 2 softball. Thanks to that mark, the locals earned a home game against No. 9 Wakefield on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

With a victory, the Lady Redmen would move into the quarterfinal round to take on 19-1 top seed Danvers, which has a first round bye.

Speaking of the Falcons, Tewksbury's baseball team was 7-13 on the year, earning a No. 15 seed in the postseason. Because of that, the Redmen will play two-loss No. 2 Danvers in the first round on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

If the Redmen can pull off the major upset, they would take on either New Mission or Reading in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
