Redmen Roundup: Lacrosse Teams Sweep Dracut

Boys lacrosse clipped by Groton-Dunstable, 5-4.

lacrosse teams continued their strong start to the 2012 season by rolling over Dracut this week.

The girls' team crushed the Middies, 20-10, while the boys earned an 8-6 win.

For the girls, Melissa Peters was unstoppable. Peters had seven goals and added a pair of assists for the Redmen.

Sophomores Chelsea Smith and Taylor Lirakis added four goals each for Tewksbury, which improved to 1-1 on the season. Abby Donohue chipped in with three goals.  Riley Ryan earned the win in net with five saves.

For the boys, Brandon Hibner netted four goals and added an assist to pace the Redmen attack. Johnny Aylward added a pair of goals, while Sean Foley and Zach Jacobs had a goal apiece.

Unfortunately, the boys' team wasn't able to make it two in a row, falling to Groton-Dunstable, 5-4 on Saturday. Tewksbury trailed 5-2 entering the fourth quarter and launched a furious comeback but weren't able to get the equalizer.

Hibner had a goal and an assist for the Redmen. Jacobs, Tim Donovan and Joe DiRusso added single goals.

With the loss, the Redmen fell to 2-2 on the season.
