Redmen Roundup: Softball Team Blanks North Andover, 12-0

Baseball team falls to Lawrence, boys' lacrosse romps.

Softball

The Tewksbury High softball team improved to 6-1, thrashing North Andover, 12-0 on Friday in a mercy-rul shortened game.

Sophomore sireballer Shannon McLaughlin continued her dominant work in the circle, tossing her fourth straight shutout and running her consective scoreless innings streak to 24. McLaughlin struck out six and allowed just one hit.

The Redmen offense struggled a bit early and they led just 3-0 after four innings before erupting for nine runs in the fifth to end the game.

Sammy LaFerriere had three hits, including a pair of doubles, to lead the Tewksbury offense. Brooke Hardy had a pair of hits, including a three-run homer in the fifth. Sheri Liggiero had a pair of hits and Tiffanie Marsh stroked a triple.

Baseball

Lawrence High jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and rolled to an 8-2 win over Tewksbury. Redmen ace John Chotkowski went 5.2 innings. He struck out three but walked four and gave up six hits.

Zach Dirocco had a pair of hits and drove in both runs for Tewksbury. Cam Oliveira, Allyn Hood and Matt Skotz also had hits in the loss. Tewksbury dropped to 3-3 overall.

Boys' Lacrosse

Zach Jacobs poured in six goals and Tewksbury High rolled to a 16-2 win over Pentucket. With the win, the Redmen improved  to 5-3 on the year.

Tewksbuy's defense was ironclad, allowing Pentucked just nine shots on goal the entire game. Johnny Aylward scored four times and Brandon Hibner aded three goals and three assist for the winners. Sean Foley chipped in with a pair of goals.

Mike Brawley picked up with the win in net, making seven saves.

Girls Track

Tewksbury High girls track team participated in the Nashua Invitational on Saturday and the Redmen had some strong individual performances.

Jess Bridle took second place in the 100 meters in 13.2 seconds. Sara Semenza was second in the 400 in 60.72 and Courtney Spinelli placed second in the javelin with a throw of 111-3. Sara Hogan was third in the 200 in 27.58
