Redmen Blank Boston Latin, Move Into Semifinal
Tewksbury hockey team puts their foot on the gas for three periods, and come away with a 1-0 win over the Wolfpack.
If Saturday night’s playoff game between the Tewksbury and Boston Latin hockey teams had been a three round boxing match, the judges would have scored it this way: the first round was even, the second round went to Tewksbury, and the Redmen delivered the knockout blow in the third.
Tewksbury took the third meeting between the two teams 1-0, Saturday night at Salem State, eliminating the Wolfpack from the tournament.
Sophomore Mike Casey scored an unassisted goal with 11:50 to go in the game and and his teammates made it stand up, sending the Redmen into the semifinals.

Next up for Tewksbury, in the , the Beverly Panthers. Beverly upset Winthrop Saturday afternoon 5-4. The puck drops at the Chelmsford Forum at 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday night.
The Redmen outshot the Wolfpack 34-13, with the biggest edge in play coming in the second and third periods. Boston Latin goalie Gabe Diop was the only reason the game was close.

With a 10-8 shot advantage in the first, Tewksbury came close to scoring, but Mike Golini was stopped on a breakaway with 2:10 to go in the period.
Tewksbury shifted in to high gear in the second, outshooting Boston Latin 14-2, with great scoring chances by and .
Despite the volume of shots and the great scoring chances for Tewksbury, the game was scoreless after two periods.
Casey broke the tie with the game winner, a wrist shot to Diop’s left that broke through his pads into the net.
Tewksbury kept pressing until the final whistle, finishing up with 10 shots to three for the Wolfpack.
Tewksbury came in as the sixth seed in the tournament and will face a Beverly team coming in as the seventh seed. The Panthers finished 14-5-1 in the Northeastern Conference.
With Saturday night’s win, the Redmen picked up their second win of the season over Boston Latin, the first a 4-1 win on New Year’s Day to go with a 2-2 tie in February.
