Rep. Miceli Stable After Being Taken To Hospital By Ambulance
The 82-year-old lawmaker, who has represented Wilmington and Tewksbury since 1977, collapsed during a meeting Wednesday morning.

BOSTON, MA -- An aide to Rep. James Miceli (D-Wilmington) said he was in stable condition after being taken by ambulance from a Democratic Caucus Wednesday morning. Miceli, 82, collapsed during a strategy meeting of House Democrats in Boston.
Rep. Alan Silvia (D-Fall River) told State House News Service that Miceli appeared to be conscious as he was loaded into an ambulance. "It was scary. I'm worried," Silvia said.
Miceli has represented Wilmington and Tewksbury since 1977 and announced he would be running for reelection after having hip replacement surgery a year ago. House rules have allowed him to cast votes from his office -- a fact that Pina Prizivalli, his likely Republican challenger in November's election, noted in a Twitter post which was removed after news broke of Miceli's hospitalization Wednesday afternoon.
