UPDATED: Shots Fired, Suspect Dead Following Incident at Salter School
State Police are assisting the Tewksbury Police and Middlesex County District Attorney with the investigation.

Update, 2:28 p.m.
During a news conference, authorities said a suspect stabbed a man and a woman at the Salter School in Tewksbury Tuesday morning then was killed in a gunfight with two police officers.
The suspect and the two victims were not identified. The victims were employees of the Salter School, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.

Tewksbury Police Chief Timothy Sheehan said the suspect’s attack was not random. He said there is no danger to the public.
He said two police officers were involved in the gunfight. Neither was hurt. The suspect was struck at least once and transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Both of the officers are detectives who have been with the department for fewer than five years, Sheehan said. As is department procedure, they were placed on administrative duty while authorities investigate the case.
Ryan said more details would be released later Tuesday.

An incident at the Salter School early Tuesday morning has led to a police involved shooting.
The suspect in the Salter School incident was chased by police before the shooting, WHDH, 7-News is reporting. The station is reporting one person is dead.
Police told NECN, the suspect exchanged fire with police near the school Tuesday morning.
Tewksbury Police are expected to make a statement soon.
Town Manager Richard Montuori told WBZ he spoke with the police chief and the incident was not random and residents are safe.
The Massachusetts State Police crime scene and ballistics units are assisting the Middlesex County District Attorney’s office and Tewksbury Police with the investigation.
There is a heavy police presence at both the Salter School and in the area of Forest Avenue Tuesday morning following two separate incidents.
Just after 9 a.m. Tuesday morning there was a report of an individual with a hand laceration and another with unknown injuries.
Details are still coming in, but from the police scanner Tewksbury Patch is aware of the incident at the school,.
Soon after the Salter School incident, there were reports of shots fired in the area of Forest Avenue, also in Tewksbury.
It was originally unknown if the two situations are connected. Tewksbury Police are expected to make a statement soon.
The Town Crier is reporting students arriving at the Salter School can’t access the parking lot and there is a police presence. They are also reporting a heavy police presence in the area of Forest Avenue and Lowell Street.
