Fantastic Sams Rockies 19 – Custom Craft Mets 7
The Mets fell to the Rockies 19-7 during the opening day game. Key defensive players for the Mets: Hope Splaine and Jasmin Flores. Key offensive players Emily Burns (with a 3-run home run and a base hit), Lauren Whelton and Kelsey Kelley (each with 2 base hits). Pitchers for the Mets were Lauren Whelton and Michelle Maciel.

Atamia VW Honda Nationals 21– Aubuchon Hardware Royals 6
The Royals played a tough game against a strong Nationals team. Pitcher Marissa Doherty led the Royals off with steady pitching. First baseman Niamh Cote did not let anything get by her and third baseman Sarah Bishop made some strong throws to first. Offensively the Royals improved their hitting with hits from Riley Cote and Jacqui Marchant.
Aubuchon Hardware Royals 13 -Custom Iron Craft Mets 12
The Royals had there first win in a very tight game against the Mets. Alyssa Mecurio made her pitching debut and pitched 5 strong innings. Catcher Jacqui Marchant stayed strong behind the plate and made a crucial out, stopping a run. Third baseman Paige McGaffigan had a great offensive game and made some key outs. Offensively the Royal bats were swinging with a double from Teagan Trant and hit and great base running from Catherine Butler.
The Mets lost to the Royals in a very close match up. Key defensive plays for the Mets: Kelsey Kelley, Hope Splaine and Lauren Whelton. Key offensive players Emily Burns, Hope Splaine and Lauren Whelton. Lauren Whelton pitched the entire game, striking out nine batters.
Elia's Country Store Diamondbacks 10, Atamia VW Honda Nationals 8
The Elia’s Country Store Diamondbacks won 10-8 in spirited back and forth battle with the Nationals on May 3rd. The Diamondbacks pulled out in front in their final at bat on RBI’s by Danya Salibe and Sarah Murray. Diamondback Julia Hartnett and Irene Houde each scored 2 runs. Pitching stars for the Diamondbacks included Sydney Quinn and Brooke Lamothe, each with key strikeouts to end rallies. Big defensive stops for the Diamondbacks included force outs by right fielder Shannon Vasas and second baseman Sarah Benson.
Dovetail Construction Corp. Angels 11, Elia's Country Store Diamondbacks 3
Though the score might indicate a loss for the Elia’s Country Store Diamondbacks against a tough Angels team on May 1st, the Diamondbacks finished strong, allowing only 2 runs over the final 4 innings while scoring 2 of their own. Brooke Lamothe pitched 3 scoreless innings for the Diamondbacks. Jennifer Campbell drove in 2 runs for the Diamondbacks. Key defensive stops for the Diamondbacks included force outs by second baseman Tayla Spezzano and third baseman Irene Houde. Also, rally stopping fly outs were registered by pitcher Sydney Quinn and second baseman Sarah Benson.
Senior League
Crystals Convenience Pirates 9 – Gateway Car Wash Twins 8
The Twins, sponsored by Gateway Car Wash, lost a tough game against the Pirates on Sunday. The Twins fell behind early, but came back strong in the top of the 7th inning putting up 6 runs. Brittany Fletcher and Amy Sampson were solid on the mound never giving up a big inning to the Pirates offense. Erin Walsh was an anchor at SS throughout the game making a bunch of solid defensive plays, while Hillary Fletcher held down 2nd base late in the game with a couple nice defensive stops. Offensively, the Twins bats were still a bit quiet but showed some signs of life with Caitlin Morris and Molly Harrington producing the bulk of the Twins hits.
J&B Butcher Padres 20 – Gateway Car Wash Twins 16
Tonight was the J & B Butchers Padres night as they garnered their first win of the season with a 20 to 16 win over a hard hitting Twins team. Helping hold off the Twins were Stephanie Giles with 2 fly balls caught, 1 each at right field and 2nd base and Michele Sessa with a pop foul snagged in the third inning. Driving the offense were Taylor Donahoe with 3 hits and Haleigh Roy with speedy base running, scoring twice. Jacqueline Noftle pitched a good first 3 innings and caught a lined shot straight back at her in the first.
The Twins, sponsored by Gateway Car Wash, lost a 4 inning slug-fest against the Padres. The Twins again fell behind early, but were able to keep the game close throughout. Brittany Fletcher, Andrea Doran and Amy Sampson toughed it out on the mound for the Twins. Caitlin Morris made several defensive stops at 3B, while Cassie Chiara made a great catch in center field late in the game with bases loaded to keep the Padres within striking distance. Offensively, the Twins bats came alive. The team went 7 for 17 with Erin Walsh and Audrey Casey each collecting 1 hit each, reached base on 3 plate appearances and both scored 3 runs.
J&B Butcher Padres 7 – Silva Brothes Construction Tigers 20
The J & B Butcher Padres couldn't get anything going against a very strong Tigers defense in a 20 to 7 game. Nora Butler had 3 strike outs pitching in the first inning. Anna Sessa had an unassisted double play to end the fourth and teamed with Alexsay Zemetres at 3rd to end the third inning. Offensively Haley Acconcia had an RBI triple with Rachel Kelleher scoring the teams last run of the game.
Dry Wall Limited Orioles 16 – Aurora Salon Athletics 13
The Aurora Salon A’s were on the losing end of a back and forth game with the Orioles. The A’s jumped out to a 5-3 lead on some solid hitting by the top of the order, including 2 doubles, a single, and 6 RBI from Chelsea Grant, and a nice double and 2 RBIs from Christina Keefe. Kaley O’Neill contributed as well with a single and an RBI. Kaitlyn Sheehan had a perfect day at the plate stroking a 2nd inning single and drawing two bases on balls. The Orioles scratched back and the scoring went back and forth in the middle innings. The Orioles took the lead in the 4th, and the A’s were set to answer with bases loaded, but got caught with 2 outs on an infield fly rule out and a close play at the plate on the same play. Lauren Barletta made her pitching debut, splitting the innings with Lisa Petrowski (3 hits), both with solid pitching performances and great defense. But in the end, the A’s just ran out of time to complete their comeback.
Jr. U10 League
Mr. Gutterman Co. Cubs 20 – Edelstein & Company LLP White Sox 9
Haley Mignon was the starting pitcher and had six strike outs. Mignon also had two singles and a hard hit double. Carley Feingold hit for three singles. Alexa Harrington made an outstanding play as catcher, fielding a pop up behind the plate. Alyssa Piccolo and Ava Nickerson each made unassisted outs at third base.
Wicked Cheesy Dodgers 16, Tewksbury VFW Post 8164 Giants 3
The Wicked Cheesy Dodgers had a great season opening win against a tough Giant’s squad. Gianna Ragucci and Abigail Naugler were clutch on the mound combining together to bring the Wicked Cheesy Dodgers to victory. The Wicked Cheesy Dodger offense was led by hitting from Sabrina Pendola, Helen Johnson , Naugler and Raguccin. Brigh Cote was stellar behind the plate, as well as pacing the offense. Great defensive plays by Cote, and Naugler sealed the victory against a very good Giant’s team.
