See If Your Street Is On Tewksbury's List For Improvements
Tewksbury is seeking input from residents on a draft list of priorities for street improvements under the state's Complete Streets program.

TEWKSBURY, MA -- East Street and Whipple Road in Tewksbury were among the streets most frequently mentioned in a draft list of road improvement projects the town wants to prioritize for improvements under the state's Complete Streets program. The program helps towns design and implement improvements to roadways that provide "safe and accessible options for all travel modes - walking, biking, transit and vehicles – for people of all ages and abilities." The town is seeking public input on the list before its final submission to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
Last fall, Tewksbury Patch asked readers to tell us about the worst intersection in town, and many of those intersections ended up on the town's list. But the Complete Streets program is aimed at more than just improving conditions for drivers. Many of the projects on the town's draft list include sidewalk improvements.
"The Town of Tewksbury has limited resources, multiple needs, and a high level of citizen participation. It is a community that is dedicated to improving the experience of residents, visitors, and commuting workforce," the town said in releasing the list. The town needs to have 15 Complete Streets projects to remain eligible for the state grant funding its participation in the project.
