Shawsheen Street In Tewksbury To Be Closed This Weekend

The road will be closed between 7 am Saturday and 7 pm Sunday as crews work on reconstructing a railroad crossing.

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Pan-Am Railways will be reconstructing the railroad crossing on Shawsheen Street in Tewksbury this weekend, meaning the road will be closed from 7 am on Saturday to 7 pm on Sunday. The town will detour passenger vehicles onto a route that uses Ballard Street, Maple Street and Whittemore Street. Heavy trucks will be detoured on a route that uses Route 38, Chandler street and East Street.

Weather could impact the construction schedule. The Town of Tewksbury is asking that questions be directed to Shawn Higgins with Pan-am at (978) 663-1127.

In the map below, the blue pinpoint shows where the railroad crossing work will be done. The blue lines show the detour route for passenger vehicles and longer detour route for heavy trucks:
