State Police K-9 Locates Man Wanted for Assaulting Tewksbury Police Officer
K-9 Neko located the suspect hiding in a recycling barrel after tracking through a waist deep swamp and heavy brush.

Over the weekend, a Massachusetts State Police K-9 helped capture a suspect who assaulted an officer in Tewksbury.
Early Saturday morning (April 11) just after 3:00 a.m., State Trooper Dan Purtell and K-9 Neko responded to Tewksbury to assist Tewksbury Police in their search for a man who fled on foot after assaulting an officer.

Trooper Purtell deployed Neko on a track. Neko tracked throughout a residential complex and entered a wooded area. After tracking through waist deep swamp and heavy brush, Neko tracked out to a yard and back into the wooded area. Neko eventually tracked to another yard where he located the suspect hiding in a recycling barrel.
After brief resistance, the suspect finally surrendered and was turned over to Tewksbury Police.
