The following is a letter to the editor was submitted by State rep. Dave Robertson (D-Tewksbury) in support of Selectman Todd Johnson, who is running for reelection in the Tewksbury town election on April 6.

A town is a living, breathing entity. Over the years Tewksbury has seen its share of ups and downs — however we are at high point. A large part of that is due to the thoughtful leadership of Mr. Todd Johnson.

Mr. Johnson stepped forward to serve on our Board of Selectman during tough economic times for all of America. It's easy for someone to run when things are going well but it takes integrity to do so when the road ahead is rocky.

Todd is a wealth of information for our community. He has worked as a successful attorney for the bulk of his distinguished professional career and he has brought this professional experience to his time as a Selectman. Todd has directly advocated for a number of legislative filings, leading to a number of new proposals on Beacon Hill, including filings regarding sewer reimbursement. When hopefully passed, this will allow Tewksbury to alleviate both residential and commercial utility rates, putting money back in our pockets.

Selectman Johnson also played an instrumental role in establishing the highest ever bond-credit rating for Tewksbury, which restructured public debt that saved residents literally millions of dollars.

Todd also found solutions in a town with aging infrastructure and brought us a new High School, Town Hall, and other facilities; the face of Tewksbury has never looked so good.

The advantage of having an experienced leader like Mr. Johnson is clear to me and to many other voters as well. His proven results mean that he will continue to serve with the best interests of the residents and work towards an even better Tewksbury. I urge residents to join me on April 6th in returning Todd Johnson's expertise and experience to the Board of Selectman.

Sincerely,

Rep. David Robertson, 19th Middlesex.
