Stellar Boys Lacrosse Season Ends in Opening Round

Tewksbury High School fell in a back and forth contest Tuesday as Arlington escaped with an 11-10 preliminary round win on Tuesday.

The most successful campaign in Tewksbury High School boys lacrosse program history came to a close on Tuesday, despite the best effort of the Redmen.

Arlington toppled the locals, 11-10, in the opening round of the East Division 2 postseason, eliminating Tewksbury, which hosted a playoff game for the first time in team history.

After peppering Arlington's keeper with scoring chances, Tewksbury had the ball with just under a minute to go trailing by a goal. But the Spy Ponder defense buckled down and didn't let Tewksbury fire off a last gasp attempt to tie the game.

Still, head coach Joe Ginsbury viewed the season as a positive, with the team improving from a blowout loss during last year's postseason.

"It's about elevating the program, and that's what they've done," said Ginsburg, whose team won a league title, was 16-4 in the regular season, and set program records along the way. "The future is promising. I feel good about it."
