Tewksbury Coronavirus Update: Case Total Crosses 300
The town's infection rate is now over one in every hundred residents.
TEWKSBURY, MA — Over 300 Tewksbury residents have tested positive for the new coronavirus, as of Wednesday afternoon, according to data released by the state. There are 357 confirmed cases in town, or 1159.44 per 100,000 residents.
The town ranks in the top 50 municipalities in confirmed coronavirus rate, according to the state data.
The total cases increased by 153 over the last week, from 204 cases reported by the town April 22. The town has not updated its numbers since April 23, and the state data does not include recoveries versus active cases. As of April 23, the vast majority of the town's coronavirus patients — over 200 — had active cases.

The Tewksbury case count includes residents of Tewksbury Hospital, where a major outbreak was reported. An Army Reserve medical task force was deployed to the hospital.
